The Kapi’olani Community College (KapCC) STEM Program has now been partnering with the Hawaii State Department of Education (DoE) to host the annual Honolulu District Science Fair at the KapCC campus. The science fair, which is free and open to the public, began as a Middle School Science Fair for East Oahu. Each year, the fair has grown in terms of size and number of participants. First, the fair expanded to include elementary school students from the region. Eventually, the science fair grew to include students from elementary school all the way through high school.
Due to the ever growing number of participants, KapCC has continued to open its campus to the science fair to accomodate the large number of participants, faculty members, staff members, school principals & vice-principals, parents, volunteers, and guests. In addition, the KapCC STEM Program has assisted by providing judges for the science fair, student volunteers for the day of the event, and STEM-focused exhibits and demonstrations.
The Honolulu District Science Fair is modeled after the International Science and Engineering Fair and the Hawaii State Science and Engineering Fair. Visit the official Honolulu District Science Fair website. For details about upcoming and past fairs, please click on the links below:
