Applications for the IKE 2019 Hawaiʻi Calculus Academy now OPEN!!

The IKE (Indigenous Knowledge in Engineering)/Pre-Engineering Education Collaborative II (PEEC II) Program is looking for Native Hawaiian students and other underrepresented minorities in STEM who are interested in engineering and who are ready to take Calculus I, II, or III for our Hawaiʻi Calculus Academy program (May 20-June 28). Students who have been part of the program have gone to NASA, flown rockets 3500ft into the air, reduced water usage on our campus, gotten paid to do research, and presented their research across the U.S!


  • FREE tuition for calculus and SCI 295 (4 credits total)
  • Get one-on-one help from peer mentors
  • Work on renewable engineering projects that will affect our community
  • Get to know faculty (great for recommendation letters)
  • Meet a cohort of other engineering students who you’ll take the rest of your engineering courses with
  • Share your knowledge with the engineering community at our symposium
  • Get support for scholarships, internships, research opportunities, and conferences

Only 10 students will be selected. Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, American Indians, Alaskan Natives, women, and other STEM minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. Please see this brochure and the attached flyer for more info.

CRLA Tutor Training Day! Spring 2019!

Mahalo to over 60 KCC peer tutors/mentors from NHAA, STEM, Study Hub, TRIO, and BLT who attended 6 hours of College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) training this past Saturday, January 12. In working toward campus-wide International Tutor Training Program Certification (ITTPC), peers collaborated to learn more about topics such as referral skills, tutoring guidelines, Title IX, andragogy, and students with disabilities. Student Undergraduate Research Fair (S.U.R.F) Spring 2018

Kapiʻolani Community College Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program invites you to S.U.R.F with us at the Student Undergraduate Research Fair (S.U.R.F) starting on Tuesday, December 4th to Thursday, December 6th at `Ōhi`a Cafeteria and Lama Library.  

This three-day event is a showcase of the undergraduate research projects of our very own Kapiʻolani Community College students. S.U.R.F will feature student oral presentations, poster session, a breakout room, and a Waste Reduction Presentation! Join us for a diverse display of research, presented by students from the following disciplines and programs:
